Caroline Covington is an Associate Professor of Art (Sculpture) at Pellissippi State Community College. Her work exposes the common anxieties and apprehensions felt towards the myths of the past and the uncertainties of the future, often revealed through rituals, superstitions, and rites of passage. Prey is a collection of interactive metal objects. The work transforms religious and domestic objects traditionally associated with women into cast or forged relics. They are cold, yet warm to the touch. They may make sound. They may fit. They may jolt memories of spiritual narratives to kitchen tables and all “the ties that bind” in between.
