Dylan Collins was born in Chicago in 1974, and spent his youth growing up in rural east central Illinois. He attended Eastern Illinois University, receiving both a BA in 2-D Studio Art in and an MA in Sculpture. Collins earned his MFA in Sculpture from Kent State University in 2003, and since that time, he has been an instructor at Kent State University, Oberlin College, and Southeast Missouri State University. He is currently employed as Associate Professor and Sculpture Area Coordinator in the School of Art and Design at West Virginia University. His studio practice utilizes metal fabrication and foundry casting techniques combined with the use of mold making and 3D printing to create mixed media artworks.
